Napping the Hard Way
Anna is taking her afternoon nap in her playpen right now. It took an extra hour to get her to go to sleep and an extra bottle of milk. She was wiggling too much to nurse to sleep. (Nope, I am not nursing a constantly squirming kid anymore—she has teeth.) So I gave her a bottle which she drank, but still was wiggling to spite the shaky toothpicks holding up her eyeballs. So the next experiment was to stick her in the playpen some more milk in a bottle so that hopefully she would wiggle herself down without me having to chase after her running off the bed. It sort of worked. Yet some more milk in a bottle, a bunch of fussing, some crying, and finally she went to sleep.
It’s around 78 degrees in the bedroom. She slept for a little over 1 1/2 hours. She’s been managing to sleep on her own for naps at daycare for a while now.
Paul leaves for Hong Kong this evening. Sometime tomorrow he’ll be in Asia and it will be sometime Wednesday (the other side of the date line). I’m slowly doing better. I still have to rest a lot, but simple things are no longer knocking me out like they were last week. Anna’s also figured out that Aunt Deb will read her books, even before breakfast!
